How is Instagram engagement rate calculated?
The usual way is likes plus comments on a post, divided by your followers, times 100. We use your averages per post, so one viral post does not hide the rest.
What is a good engagement rate on Instagram in 2026?
Socialinsider's 2026 benchmarks put the average at 0.48% of followers per post: 0.55% for carousels, 0.52% for Reels and 0.37% for single photos. Anything above about 0.7% is above average.
Why is my engagement rate going down?
Common reasons: fewer Reels and carousels, weak first seconds, posting at the wrong time, or followers who no longer care, for example from giveaways or bought followers. Larger accounts also tend to have lower rates.
Do you need access to my account?
